Pre-Ballet (ages 3+)
Designed as an introduction to ballet, our Pre-Ballet students will learn basic steps, forms and dance principles. There will be an emphasis on technique, poise, and rhythm while developing motor skills in a positive and fun environment!
Pre-Tap (ages 3+)
Pre-Tap classes set the stage for students to learn the first steps and tap terms they'll need to build a foundation in tap dancing. There will be an emphasis on technique, poise, and rhythm while developing motor skills in a positive and fun environment!
Ballet (ages 6+)
Ballet is the foundation for all other forms of dance. It provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. Ballet classes will help dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, self-discipline, and self-confidence. Students are taught proper body placement, body alignment, barre and center floor work, along with across the floor combinations.
Tap (ages 6+)
Tap is a percussive style of dance that focuses on intricate footwork and musicality. Classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun!
Jazz (ages 6+)
Jazz is a very fun, high energy with an upbeat, stylized form of dance. It focuses on isolations of the body, proper alignment, leaps, turns, and rhythmic aspects of dancing.
Ballet Technique (ages 9+)
Ballet Technique classes are the foundation for training and focus on developing a solid ballet technique with emphasis on understanding correct body placement, coordination of the upper body, and use of arms—focusing on training the muscle memory required in each exercise.
Lyrical (ages 11+)
Lyrical is an expressive genre of dance that focuses on control and fluidity of movement. This class is a combination of ballet and jazz that challenges dancers to use choreography and movement to interpret music and express emotion derived from lyrics to convey the dance’s meaning. It emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics while telling a story with movement that can be fluid or abstract. Heavily focused on ballet technique and terminology, dancers will develop their musicality, advance their performance skills and solidify their ballet/jazz technique.
Pointe (with Instructor Permission)
All pointe classes are designed for students with previous ballet training. Students will utilize previously learned ballet technique while working in pointe shoes. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work and across the floor combinations. These exercises focus on strengthening the feet and ankles (dancers must have instructor approval for this class).
